"Because everyone could use a daily blessing..."
People always ask how we got
started in the soy candle business and my answer is usually, Divine
intervention. Seriously, how else could a 54 year old woman who had
never made a candle in her life do this? It all came about after a talk
with my son, who will graduate from college this next year. I was
telling him it was hard for me to give him career advice when at my age
I still didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Well, the
conversation hung with me like a weight around my neck for a few weeks,
and one morning while brushing my teeth, I looked up, and it was as if
someone had touched my shoulder almost as to lead me. That was the
moment the idea for Heavens Gate Soy Candles was formulated. There is
not a day that goes by that I do not light a candle when I first get up
in the morning, the warmth from the glow of the flame is like a hug to
me, and a great way to start my morning. Then, before I get caught up
in the business of life, I read a little flip-book called "Daily
Blessings". Did I mention that we actually named our home "Heavens
Gate" when we bought it four years ago. Partly for the gate that stands
at the entrance to what we call the "Angel Garden", and because when I
was a little girl I loved the Shirley Temple movie "Our Little Girl",
and in it they picnicked at "Heavens Gate", her family’s special place.
You can see where this is all going right? Well, needless to say it has all come together, and each and every Daily Blessings candle is hand-poured right in our own kitchen. We are proud of the fact that we use all local products, 100% soybean wax, cotton cored wicks and the finest fragrances that we special blend for unique, one of a kind scents. We also special order all our containers from Libbey Glass. From all of this, we feel we bring to you a superior, affordable product that we can be proud of.
